Bumblebees (Bombus terrestris) are widely used in agriculture and show much higher pollination results than honey bees and osmia bees. Bombus PRO5 bumblebee hives are designed for pollinating many vegetable, melon, garden, and berry crops in protected and open ground.

Advantages of bumblebee pollination:

• Compared to bees, the bumblebee more actively pollinates flowers, especially noticeable in bad weather and at low temperatures;
• Bumblebees start pollinating the crop when the temperature rises above +8°C;
• Even strong wind doesn't stop bumblebees in their work;
• Bumblebees navigate better in greenhouses and tunnel-type greenhouses than bees;
• Due to their size and focus on collecting pollen (not nectar, as in the case with bees), bumblebees carry more pollen per flight than bees;
• Thanks to the special vibration created by the bumblebee, it shakes pollen from the flower more effectively;
• For tomatoes and some other crops, bumblebees are the only insect species that pollinate them;
• Unlike bees, bumblebees don't tend to fly far from the hive with the entire swarm to a more attractive crop, meaning they work exactly where the hives are located;
• They don't show a high selectivity in choosing flower colors.
